Memory Tapes channels Stones, America, into lo-fi indie pop

by

New Jersey’s Memory Tapes sure doesn’t remind me of New Jersey. It’s not really their consistency that gets me, but one new track in particular “Green Night” is pretty fantastic. The track starts off with a mid-tempo drum and bongo combination very similar to Rolling Stones and some high organ synth with a sweet tone. Reminds me of something from Bruce Dern‘s “Silent Running.” I love the squeaky basketball shoes and basketball sample. It’s pretty similar to Washed Out for sure. The vocals are very America’s “Horse with No Name” or some CSNY. I think you’ll like “Green Knight” but the rest of the tracks aren’t that great. I think “Green Knight” just got put up though so hopefully it’s indicative of some of the tracks to come. Listen here.
